Operation "Lights at Temple Square"::FAIL!

I am a bad daughter.  It's true.  (Doing the head hang of shame...)  My parents drove all the way down from Boise Thursday night with the sole purpose of going to Temple Square Friday night to see the Christmas lights as part of the celebration for their 40th Anniversary, but we never made it.

(That's right, I said 40th Anniversary!  Can you believe it?!?  That's pretty much unheard of in today's world.  I love them so much and appreciate their fine example of how a marriage should work.)

When Friday evening rolled around, I was so tired and my throat was still hurting.  (Yes, I'm whining again. What of it?!)  I didn't much feel like dealing with the crowds and being out in the cold, so I opted out and Jeff agreed to take them.

What happened instead was all 4 of us going to dinner at Cafe Rio and then it was old-home night with Jeff taking us on a tour of the neighborhood where he grew up and the schools he'd gone to - all from the comfort and convenience of Jeff's Tahoe.  Nice!

Saturday found us at the Apple store at the Gateway where mom and dad purchased a fan-freakin-tastic new Apple computer.  Hooray!!!  I can't wait for them to get it set up.  Of course, mom and I had our doubts as to whether or not dad would actually go through with it.  We had to use a crowbar to remove his wallet where it was tightly hugging his butt, but we prevailed. (We had to use our muscles.) They even got a new printer, too.  Happy, happy day!  [Someone might want to run and check on Ryan to see if he's managed to pick himself up off the floor yet.]

Later on, Michelle and I took mom to Gardener Village to do a little shopping.  We were there when it got dark, so we got to see the lights.  Not the same as Temple Square, but at least it was festive.

Martha, thanks for your nice comment!

I haven't been to Temple Square yet this year. We did go to Zoo lights last night, which was pretty fun.

Anyway, thanks for stopping by my blog. I will add you to my Reader and will return!

Hey thanks for coming to check my blog out! I'm returning the favor :)

Had to laugh at the using a crowbar to remove his wallet.

You know... Sometimes you have to sacrifice your own comfort for the happiness of others. It will make you happy, too. Whiner baby. I am totally chastising you on your blog. If you came to Monterey so you could go see Old Fisherman's Wharf and I had a sore throat, I would totally go with you, because I know that you traveled a long ways to see it (and me). Sheesh. Anyway, enough of that. Dad had to call about the iMac. I think that's totally awesome! Mom's gonna become a blogoholic. :) Love ya.

Love Gardner Village! We don't even go see the temple lights here anymore after being spoiled with Temple Square's. Palm trees just don't compare when it comes to that. That probably makes me a bad person.

Lights, shmights, they'll be there next year and Mom and Dad can come back down and you can PRETEND it's their 40th anniversary. Or better yet, just make a huge celebration of their 41st! anniversary......
lift thy head up delinquent daughter, I'm sure you are forgiven!
