Just Curious...

Are there any words in the English language that you have an aversion to?

My word is panties. I can't stand that word. I've never liked it. I don't know why. Maybe it's because I grew up with brothers and they didn't have to wear any old sissy panties with flowers on them. Sheesh! Even now, when I say the word, I say it in a high pitched nasally voice and drag it out - paaaaaaaanties. EEEEWWWW Maybe I'll pretend I'm British and start referring to them as knickers.

For my friend Jamie, her word is moist. She does not like it in any context. Not even in reference to moist cake.

What about you? Any word phobias?

Two of my least favorite words are "moist" and "panties". I don't know why. They just gross me out. I made the mistake of telling my friend this information a few years ago. It became his goal in life to use those words in a sentence together every time he saw me. It became kind of a joke in my group of friends. Now, when I hear the words, I think of him first and then my skin crawls. I'm sure he is so proud! :]

Oh my gosh - "moist" hil-freaking-larious. Now I'm sure you don't watch TV with such bad language as Dead Like Me (I think it aired in the early 2000's) but holy cow it was good. The main character's mother is this totally uptight chick who hates the word "moist" (she thinks it sounds dirty) so - as any daughter would - the main character uses it as often as possible to annoy mom.

my bff has the same aversion to the word panties. so, we just refer to them as undies. not that we talk about undies all that often.

yep...we wear undies around here;)

...what?? Aunt D. does not like the word fricken'? If I cut that word out of my vocabulary then I would have nothing to say...or my language would have too much awful profanity in it...and we can't have that with kiddos around.

Hmmm...I'm so with Tammy on the words she said...pretty much I can't refer to any personal body-part by its real name...I know immature...but it I can't....even though I know we are supposed to use the "real" words with our kids...i can't...grosses me out!

oh and I can't stand the word menstrual period/cramp or menstration.....EWE...just typing it made me sick...Sean for many years has referred to that time of the month as when I am "broken" and it stuck....that is what we call it around here....;)
