Last night, the bff and I got to see "Wicked" on it's opening night here in the big ol' boomin' metropolis of SLC. (No, we did not get all 'dolled up' for a night on the town. Nor did we wear bright green attire and our witches hats. We don't even own witches hats. Trust me, saw people in witches hats last night and was a bit scared.)
I'd been hearing from friends and relatives who had seen it in other cities that it was fantastic. So, needless to say, I was super stoked to finally see what all the hype was about. (I'd read the book and did not like it so much. It pretty much sucked big butt. I wouldn't recommend it.)
The musical, however, was definitely well worth the wait. I was not disappointed. I loved it!
I thought that Donna Vivino, who played Elphaba - the wicked witch, gave a noteworthy performance. The girl has some pipes, for sure.

But, in my opinion, Ms. Katie Rose Clarke, who played Glinda the Good, most undoubtedly stole the show. I couldn't stop laughing at her antics and over-the-top dramatics. The girl was hilarious. (Kind of reminded me of a cross between Molly Shannon, Amy Pohler and Tina Fey, with some incredibly mad singing skillz thrown in.) Love, love, luuuuh-ved her and would enjoy seeing the show again just to laugh at her narcissistic hijinks.
My recommendation - if you get a chance to see it - take the offer and run all the way to the theater.

I'm so jealous! I'm glad you enjoyed it though.
Super glad you had so much fun!...yep, people who dress the part and show up for things freak me out too. I'm glad to know you didn't wear a witches hat nor do you own one=)
I really really want to see this. I should've bought those tickets off my brother and flown back up there.
Glad you enjoyed it! And I have read parts of the book, and it amazes me that someone would think a musical would be a good idea from that book.
I think it sold out like the day the tickets went on sale, right? I didn't know enough about it to be aggressive about getting tickets. Oh well. Someday....
HATED the book. loved the show.
glad you did too!
I saw it yesterday with my sis too. Those two were soooo fun to watch and listen to. Does she ever have pipes?! I bet it was fun to be there opening night.
Fun Fun!
I don't have tickets. I am so jealous of you, that I might be a hater for a minute.
Glad you loved it!
For $300 you can see it with me on the 16th. I'm pretty sure Nicole would sell her ticket. Well, we better make it $600. ha haha
