Are there really any words for this?

My now retired, 63 year old father decided to do some cleaning out of the shed this past week and happened upon this little gem taken circa 1977::

He promptly stuck it in the scanner and sent it off to us kids.  I got the e-mail, opened it and burst out laughing, which continued for a good 15 minutes or so.  Then, the parents got onto iChat and we continued laughing, nay downright guffawing at this winsome depiction of family togetherness.

We were told that we couldn't smile.  (Kind of reminds me of pictures of the pioneers - all stony faced and serious.  Absolutely no smiling.)  From what my dad said, this was taken prior to him being considered for some "special" assignment with the military, which he didn't get. (We think it may have been because of Ryan's overalls.)

My mom, in between giggles, managed to say, "I made your dress and mine.  Come to think of it, I made Ryan's overalls and Travis' outfit, too.  That's back when I was "THE Homemaker"." (I do believe that my mom's dress just might be the predecessor of 'The Snuggie'.)

Ryan thinks that we need to have a re-enactment of this fine piece of photographic history.  I think he's going to have a rather difficult time finding such a snappy pair of overalls, if you ask me.  (Trav - guess you'll need to find an adult pair of pull-up pants.  Good luck with that.)

I can't wait to see what my dad uncovers from the deep dark recesses of the shed this week.

I'm glad no one grew up to be a mass murderer!

I was wondering why you were all so sad...until I read the rest of the post...so were they not going to consider Uncle Bruce for the new position if he had a family who smiled? LoL!

Super cute necklace you have on in the pic...you still got that one?

hmmm...1977...I don't quite remember that year!! =)

Now I can see where Gabe gets all his cuteness from. Me!! Man, I was a cute kid. No wonder you two were jealous. How could you say no to a face like that? Just playin! But not really... I'm still spoiled. I think I'll ask mom to make me a "Snuggie" for Valentine's Day or something.
