Olympics 2010

Ever since I was a little girl, I've loved to watch the Olympics.  I'm not athletic in the least, so I love watching people who dedicate themselves to their sport and then triumph at the Olympics.  I love the commaraderie and feel good stories that come out of each Olympics.  I enjoy cheering for the underdog.

I love the fact that Salt Lake City was a host city 8 years ago.

I love that there are all kinds of "new" events in the winter Olympics now, especially the snowboarding competitions.

The one sport I truly love to watch, though, is short track speed skating, and it's all because of this guy:

Apolo Ohno

I get very excited when I watch this sport.  I even cheer.  Out Loud.  It's so fast-paced, and you never know how it's going to end.  For example, the Koreans were in the first 3 spots during Saturday night's race, but skater #2 took out skater #3 right at the very end leaving their spots open to Apolo and one of his 19 year old teammates.  Very thrilling!

They'll be hitting the short track again on Wednesday.  (I'm thinking I need to watch for when these guys hold competitions and practice here in Utah at our Olympic oval.  Apolo actually lives and trains here.  I think it would be so much fun to watch a competition in real life.)

I believe that the snowboarding competitions start tonight and I'm totally looking forward to it.

That was a GREAT race!! It was so unbelieveable at the end when that Korean knocked himself and his teammate out!!
I love watching Apollo too and I am always amazed they don't slice someone's fingers off with those big blades!

You should come watch it here on the big screen. Apolo is larger than life. For reals.
