Saw Whip It on Friday. I told Jean and Michelle that I hoped it was gonna be a good one because I just couldn't handle another stinker of a movie, not after the debacle that was Fame and Love Happens. Nope. Just didn't want to be put thru another boring, plotless movie.
I need not have worried. I loved Whip It! It totally made me laugh out loud at lots of things. There was a plot and a story line that you could follow. You got to know the characters and either love them or find them totally annoying.
Ellen Paige, who played the main character Bliss, was so awkward and unsure of herself at first. Then, she discovers so much about herself as the movie progresses.
Drew Barrymore, who wasn't in it a whole lot, plays Smashley Simpson and I thought she was hysterical.
The movie totally made me want to come up with my own Roller Derby name, even though I'm probably too much of a wimp to even attempt Roller Derby of any kind.
I give this one a thumbs up!

I wish this was coming to our theater! It looks great and Ellen Paige is one of my favorites. Drew Barymore directed and produced if I'm thinking right...a powerful chic combo!
I must see this show. I would TOTALLY have done roller derby in high school if they had it.
Cool! Good to know. I have not been to the movies for literally months because there have been no good ones. I have been eyeing this one up but was a little iffy.
It is funny that Drew Barrymore isn't in it much because she sure has been making the talk show rounds for it.
