Ok, so I realize that I'm a bit behind everyone else in seeing this movie.
Michelle, her mom and I went to see the new Star Trek this past Friday. I wouldn't say that I am a Trekkie, but I am a fan of the series to some degree.
It all started when I was just a girl. My dad would come home from work, turn on the TV and we would watch Star Trek - the original ones with William Shatner and Leonard Nemoy. Then, when Next Generation came out, I loved that series and rarely missed an episode. I didn't care so much for the other spin-offs, though.
I must say, that I LOVED this new movie! I thought that the actors really did a fantastic job at making their characters believable as Kirk, Spock, Bones and the rest of the crew. I was totally in awe of Karl Urban as Bones (Dr. McCoy). He seriously must have spent hours studying the old episodes in order to get the mannerisms and moodiness of the original Bones down.
I didn't mind the disruption of the space-time-continuum (I know - Back To The Future reference). It opens up a slew of possibilities for new movies and story lines.
You don't have to be a Trekkie to see and enjoy this movie. You really should go see it while it's still in the theaters. It just won't be the same on DVD at home.
Definite thumbs up on this one.

FINE! I will go.
I loved it! Can't wait for more!
I have to agree. Karl Urban did an AMAZING job. I was laughing at him. We got there late and had to sit up close which I didn't like at all. But it was a really good show.
I DO wanna see this one! Looks good!
